Johanna and Randy greeted us with wine and helpful local tips, and they were incredibly warm hosts. My wife and I stayed yesterday while travelling through Canada. The homemade breakfast Randy made was one of the best meals we’ve had, really cafe-standard worthy. The B&B was clean and peaceful, with stunning views of Blind Bay, and it was a perfect place to relax. Highly recommended if you’re in the area, it’s truly a brilliant find.

The home-cooked breakfast was really tasty and reasonably priced, and we got to try some new dishes. Randy was so friendly and welcomed us with a lovely glass of wine. He also helped book us a table at the local pizzeria, which was brilliant and only a short walk or drive away. The bed was comfy, the bathroom nicely decorated, and the shower was great. Best hairdryer I used all road trip, too, and it was nice to have a homely feel while staying in hotels. We took your recommendation to explore Margaret Falls when we left, a lovely start to the day. Thanks for a lovely stay and for being so nice to meet. Take care.

After a long drive, the wine and cheese were much appreciated. Joanna and Randy were welcoming hosts, and the room was comfortable with great lake views. Breakfast was fabulous. We’d definitely stay here again.

We left after one night of a planned four night stay. Our friends had booked three nights and were meant to join us the next day, but they never started the treacherous drive and stayed home because of the conditions. Wildfires were raging, including the province’s largest fire immediately across the lake from the B and B. The sky was black with thick smoke, and we could feel it in our chests. Cities and towns in BC’s interior, including some right around the B and B, were affected. We worried the highway home might close, and the other route was already closed, so we decided to leave. Six hours later the highway did close, after people had driven through with burning trees and forest on both sides. People were discouraged from travelling, and accommodations were meant to be freed up for those needing emergency shelter. The province was declared to be in a province wide emergency. I understand cancellation fees and that hosts can lose money when people cancel. But in these circumstances, it seemed fair to share the out of pocket costs. Between our friends and us, the hosts received over 1,000.00 without any extra work involved in having guests. It would have been reasonable to share the losses, and the hosts should at least have offered a 50% discount. They refused. There were other surprises. The B and B description says there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, but after our friends booked, I was messaged that the four of us were considered a “family arrangement” and would share a bathroom. There are only 2 bathrooms, and none of us knew how we’d schedule the one bathroom for morning showers and getting ready. We never had to find out, as explained above. From the suites’ living room, we could easily hear our hosts talking upstairs as if they were in the same room. Sometimes we wished we couldn’t. Breakfast cost extra, which was an unpleasant surprise. The information sheet listed prices for the breakfast options, and at breakfast my husband and I were handed a bill for 34.00 before we’d even finished eating. That seemed a bit rich given what each room already cost.

I booked this place while travelling to Van Isle, but wildfire activity nearby made staying there unsafe or undesirable. Part of the highway out was closed because of fires just 5 mins away. I asked for a refund since I couldn’t travel that way, but the owners were vague when I asked whether it was safe and whether they were still open. There was no sympathy or compensation, not even a credit for another stay. The owners sent me harassing messages before and after taking my money for one night. Terrible behaviour and customer service. Just a heads up! I’d appreciate no name calling. I didn’t go because of the smoke and the BC government travel advisory against non essential travel on the #1 highway or in places with active wild fires. I asked twice whether they were still open in those circumstances, but your son wouldn’t give me a direct answer. The way you handled my legitimate concerns, with name calling and harassment, was disgraceful and unexpectable. Take care Johanna
