Shaw's Hotel & Cottages

This place helped make up for the disappointing accommodations we had in PEI last year. It was a fantastic choice for a last-minute trip, with a reasonable price and vintage charm that reminded me of my grandparents' homes. The building dates to 1860, and if you like old-fashioned character and dated decor, this is just right. It was still very clean. My son and I stayed in the hotel, and the beds were so comfortable I melted into mine. It was a perfect quiet spot for him as a light sleeper, tucked away from things. Breakfast was included, though I think it would have cost around $22 and change. I kept it simple with coffee, scrambled eggs, sausage and toast, and the homemade strawberry rhubarb jam made me feel right at home. There were other choices too. The staff were sweet and accommodating. At night, sitting on the porch with the crickets chirping had such an old-time feel. My son and I highly recommend it!

We spent a quiet, relaxing week at Shaws, and our little cottage was just right for us. The sunsets were spectacular every night. The location was fantastic for taking road trips around the island, and we also enjoyed the short walk to the beach, the food in the dining room and the friendly staff.

The friendliness started with my first call to book, and the young staff who served us a delicious dinner and great breakfast were amazing. The family has owned and run Shaw Hotel & Cottages since 1860, which impressed me. We stayed one night in Cottage 15, and it was bigger than we expected. It had two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other, I believe, with two twin beds. There was a full kitchen, living room with a TV, bathroom with a tub shower, and lots of towels. The living room was very comfortable. We'd definitely stay again.

The family-run welcome is a big part of what makes Shaw’s Hotel & Cottages such a gem. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and the inn has plenty of timeless character and history. The cottages are cozy, clean and well equipped, with comfort and privacy. It's only steps from Brackley Beach, a great spot to unwind by the sea or explore PEI’s natural beauty. Shaw’s has that rustic charm and warm hospitality, and makes a lovely base for a relaxing or adventurous island getaway.
