We were already uneasy about the room, which sat in a dark alley beside a door with two locks. My mother, grandmother and I were staying there, and my mom ended up propping the door shut with a chair. Then we opened Netflix and saw a profile called crazy killer Kelsey. That was it for us. Around one in the morning, the man came to our door and rattled the handle. Earlier, a woman there had asked my mother which horse event we'd come for, even though Mom hadn't mentioned riding. We do competitive western horseback riding, so it felt like they'd found that information on Facebook and used it to learn about her. The man was creepy and lurked up to Mom, staring at her like he was going to kill her. This place was awful. It seemed like they were trying to kill us. Never stay there.

The rooms were really dated and dirty. There was a tiny TV, a yellow tub and sink, and exposed plumbing. The tub looked cloudy, so I swiped a finger across the tap and saw a clean streak of chrome. It was just that filthy. Cats were around the public areas too: one watched us through the locked front door, then went into the dining room and jumped on the tables and chairs with another cat or more. Dog toys were scattered on the floor. We'd arrived to find the front door locked. After three doorbell rings and four calls, someone finally answered and said they were out shopping for pumpkins. They told us there were envelopes in the mailbox with room keys and instructions for my room and our son's room. We were excited to pay for his stay, but the instructions about using the TV remotes and light switches, plus the note saying three staff members were always on site, were embarrassing given that we couldn't find or speak to anyone at check-in. I eventually reached what I think was the owner to ask about continental breakfast. She went over the basics, including that there'd be no sausage or bacon. When she asked what time we'd come down, I explained my husband is extremely allergic to cats and couldn't eat in the dining room. She suggested takeout. That's not what we paid for. Between the business practices, procedures, decor, pets in shared spaces, and especially the lack of cleanliness, I would never recommend this place. They should renovate, learn some professionalism, or close for good. They should be embarrassed.

The motel's cleanliness was a hard 2-3, and it ought to be checked against whatever standards motels have to meet. I stayed there once, on a night I'll never forget. I found what looked like fresh blood stains on the sheets and told the owner. They yelled at me, then actually chased me out of the motel. Run far away.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. I also found the location handy for getting to local attractions, wineries and the countryside. Bridgetown Motor Inn has a cozy, welcoming charm and made a lovely home base for exploring the beautiful Bridgetown Valley. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the valley.

I was in town visiting my sister and the owner gave me a charming welcome. It's a cute little place right in town, with a comfortable room that had everything I needed. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful. I'd highly recommend staying here.
