City View Inn

My relatives ended up sleeping on our floor, and the celebration food was melting in my car. It was a holiday weekend, so there was nowhere else available. We booked City Motel because it’s just around the corner from our small home, which has no proper guest room and difficult stairs for my sister. What a disaster. I’d arranged a family surprise with cakes, drinks, flowers, and balloons, and planned to get into the room early to set everything up. The stay was for a triple family celebration, and my sister has health needs. That’s why we chose the motel’s only decently remodeled room with two queen beds. I toured it, viewed it, agreed to it, and booked it well in advance. I also checked in person three times over the two weeks before the stay. Sean and the other staff assured me everything was set. On arrival during the Canada Day weekend in 2025, the heat and humidity were unbearable. I drove over with my car full of gifts and found the only car in the whole place parked in front of our room, with the shades down. The front desk told me our room had been given to another guest who decided to extend their stay, even though I’d booked and paid for it. We had no suitable accommodation. The replacement room was far below standard, with old, rusted, mismatched furnishings, depressing painted walls, and carpeted floors. Management offered neither compensation nor another solution. After all the assurances, our agreement was left high and dry and our weekend was ruined. My time and our family occasion clearly weren’t valued. This was beyond unacceptable and showed an epic lack of understanding of hospitality standards.

Harvey and the staff made the biggest impression on me. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and I had a positive stay. The room was simple but very clean, quiet, and full of natural light. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were fresh. In the morning there was fresh coffee with real cream, plus fruit, yogurt, and cereal for breakfast. It’s not fancy, but the service, cleanliness, and peaceful location were great.

Such good value for a basic motel. It was spotless, and there are nice outdoor spots to sit or use the grille. The staff were very pleasant too. It has more amenities than, say, Motel 6.

We paid $90 for one night, and the room felt fair for the price. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The AC wasn’t putting out cold air on an extremely hot day, though, and there was no iron. The motel is close to the highway. Restaurants are about 10-15 minutes away, which didn’t bother us.
