Hilton Vancouver Metrotown

We got a spacious room with coffee and tea facilities, a wonderfully comfortable king bed, luxurious pillows, and fantastic mountain views. Getting checked in was quick and friendly, and I appreciated the Hilton App alerts about check-in, room selection, and breakfast options. Hilton Metrotown Vancouver is in an unbeatable spot, with easy access to the bus and train terminus and plenty of restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets nearby. On-site parking was reasonable too, at CAD 22 per day.

The comfortable, soft beds and linens, plus a good range of pillows, were the nicest parts of the room. The location is also a real plus: this part of Burnaby is very clean, and Metropolis at Metrotown, the SkyTrain, parks, and green spaces are all a five-minute walk away. That was handy with my dog. There are plenty of local and chain restaurants nearby. The nice things pretty much end there. I booked a High-Floor City View King room on the hotel's website and paid an extra $55 pet fee. At check-in, Raj at the front desk said guests with pets could only stay on floors 4, 5, or 6, and that there were no king rooms on those floors, only rooms with two queen beds. When I asked about the price difference, he said, “We are fully sold out, so I can’t refund you the difference.” They did comp the parking and early check-in fees. I don't understand charging for early check-in if the room is already ready and the keys are handed over only a couple of hours early. I was also told high-floor city-view rooms depend on availability, which leaves me wondering why rooms that aren't available are being sold. The lobby looks newly renovated and is fairly bright and spacious, but the rooms feel old and tired. We were in room 606. The sink was partly clogged, the toilet seat was old and beat up, and the carpet needs a deep clean. On the pet-friendly floor, there were lots of stains and trapped pet dander in both the hallway carpet and our room. Parking was the most confusing setup I've encountered. The underground lot is shared with the mall. Hotel guests are meant to use the dark navy stalls, but some of those are reserved for Diamond Plus members. When we got back around 11 p.m., parking was extremely limited, and it felt like we had to descend to the depths of the underground to find a stall. If you're driving a truck or larger vehicle, good luck. Some turns are extremely sharp and would be hard to get around in anything bigger than a sedan. I'd call this a 2.5-3 star stay, fine for one night. It was extremely frustrating to pay for a specific room through the hotel's booking system and then be told it didn't matter what I'd booked, this was what I got.

After the first night of our two-night stay, my card was deactivated and I couldn't get into my room. They first refused to let me check in without a credit card, and wouldn't take cash or debit for the damage deposit. Once I managed to get a credit card, they still wouldn't provide a cot for my seven-year-old niece. It cost $350 a night for this dump. I wouldn't pay even $50 to stay here, and I've been treated a hundred times better at hotels charging $100 a night. The heated “pool” is a joke, about five feet wide. I hope people read this and choose somewhere else.

The beds were super comfortable, and the hotel was quiet at night. I loved the heated pool, and although the workout area is small, it was absolutely enough for my needs. The location is really solid, with lots of amenities nearby. The area felt very clean and safe, and it was easy to reach plenty of shops and restaurants. Thank you.
