Best Western Plus Calgary Centre Inn

The breakfast had lots of options, from yogurt, fruit, waffles, and oatmeal to muffins, bagels, eggs, and sausage. We enjoyed our one-night stay and would happily come back. We were celebrating our 15th anniversary, and the spacious room had a king bed, sofa bed, good lighting, and a jacuzzi. The room was clean, though the bathroom counter pulled slightly away from the wall. The bed was high but very comfortable, the pillows were excellent, and the duvet was warm but a little heavy for me. Check-in went smoothly, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was easy to find and close to everything. If you're unfamiliar with Calgary, getting onto the other side of MacLeod after leaving can be tricky, but the dealership lot next door gives access. Front parking is limited, though there's plenty behind the hotel. The jacuzzi was deep, roomy, and relaxing for two, but a bit awkward to climb into and out of if you're short. A quick guide to its controls and a few towels nearby would help. The shower was easy to step into, the toilet height was great, and the water pressure was decent.

UPDATE: I was told the hotel parking lot has no security cameras after someone stole my bike and cut up the bike rack to remove it from my car. This area didn't feel safe. Lock up your valuables and take them inside, or stay somewhere else. Before that, I thought this was the nicest Best Western I'd stayed at for the rooms. They were modern and clean, housekeeping was attentive, and the front desk staff were kind and accommodating. Dan was especially helpful throughout our two-day stay, always friendly and smiling. The other morning desk clerk was kind too, and helped us check in early, which made us very happy. The price was good, it's a short drive to downtown Calgary, and being next to a Toyota dealership had made us feel safe. I would have stayed again.

I was very disappointed by breakfast. At 10 a.m. on a Saturday, all they had was cold scrambled eggs and juice. There isn't a kitchen, so where did the breakfast come from? The room needed more light, and there wasn't enough shampoo, conditioner, or lotion for two people. The $30 early check-in fee shouldn't apply unless the hotel is at a particular occupancy rate. Maybe it should be charged by the hour.

The included hot breakfast was a great bonus. Dan at reception was friendly and made us feel very welcome, and our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
