Carriage House Hotel & Conference Centre

Kerri made such a difference to our breakfast. My friend was visiting from BC and staying at the carriage house, and our waitress gave us service as good as what I’ve had at a five star restaurant. She was lovely, had a terrific attitude, and put me in a great mood for the day. Breakfast and the buffet were quite good too. I’d recommend the hotel, especially for the service. Management should be proud to have Kerri on the team.

The Carriage House has been part of my life for decades. My family has been coming since the 1980’s, for stays, a wedding, and my parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary. I also shared so many delicious meals with my parents before they passed. It feels like a Calgary landmark to me because I grew up here, going to Cabarets in the 80’s and visiting Peanuts Pub back when it was there. Now my husband, adult children and I still come to the Pub and restaurant for the food and atmosphere. We usually get the Steak Sandwich with Cesar salad and their frites. We order the steak medium, and it’s always just right, with a good price too. I have great memories of the Stampede breakfast with my Father and family. If they still hold it, go along, it’s fun, the food is delicious, and the setup is excellent. Carriage House will always bring me back to home and family.

Breakfast was delicious and hot, and the gentleman who served us on the first day was so friendly. The hotel and our room were both incredibly clean, something I even pointed out to my daughter. Everyone was friendly, and I’ll definitely stay here again.

The New Year’s Day brunch was a lovely way to celebrate with family and friends, as it has been for me once or twice a year since the 1990s. It costs $60 per adult, and you can take as much or as little as you like. There was enough variety to make it a two-trip buffet, with breakfast, lunch and dinner choices. The roast beef was delicious, and I liked the omelet station, where you could choose from ham, mushrooms, mixed peppers, jalapeños, cheese, tomatoes and chilis. They made it how you wanted and served it hot. Desserts looked great, and it’s not often you see a chocolate fountain. Annie and Yen in the Windsor Room were especially helpful. They, along with the friendly staff and sous chefs, kept the coffee and orange juice above half full. The tall young busser who looked like a hockey player cleared tables and reminded us to keep our cutlery for another buffet trip. We were told the “fancy buffet” is no longer offered on Sundays and will be reserved for special days. Cheers to a nice New Year celebration.
