Cozy Nest B&B

Verna was lovely and generously let us stay, even though she couldn’t find our booking number and didn’t know we had reserved the property for that night. The home and our room were older, and the room was very small. I was glad the other three rooms weren’t rented, since four bedrooms share just one bathroom. The one-night fee seemed reasonable, but taxes and extra charges pushed the total far too high for this place. Breakfast was basic: eggs, bacon and toast, fruit, tea, and coffee. We won’t return.

We stopped at this B&B while passing through, and stayed with Verna again on our return trip. The first time I let her know we’d arrive late, and she stayed up for us. On the way back, when I said we’d be there around 1am, she offered to leave a key in the mailbox. That impressed me. A B&B is a different kind of stay from a hotel run by one person, with different reasons to book and different expectations. Verna was a great hostess. She asked when and what we wanted for breakfast and had it ready as requested. She accepts eTransfer as well as credit cards. She’s been in business for over 35 years, and the place stays busy, with overnight guests and garage sales. Every so often she takes a month or so off to travel, including a solo trip to Prague. The rooms were clean, and souvenirs from her travels decorated the living room. The front picture window gave us a beautiful panoramic view of Calgary. It felt like she was sharing both her home and her life, and her prices were very reasonable. I’d gladly stay there again.

My husband and son arrived at Cozy Nest B&B after 10pm, and the owner waited for them. She was very nice, and they liked both the place and the breakfast. We’ll definitely come back next time we visit Calgary.

I had a lovely stay. She was friendly and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
