The Westley Hotel - Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The one genuinely kind part of our stay was a housekeeper who went out of her way to get a stain out of my white shirt. I really appreciated her help, especially because the rest of the service felt indifferent and the hotel seemed understaffed. We arrived around midnight after a long travel day, struggling with our luggage, and the front desk agent just watched without greeting us or offering help. After an awkward few minutes, I had to say “Hi?” to start the interaction. At checkout, we called to ask for a trolley or help with the bags upstairs. We were told, “The trolleys are right there.” When we asked if concierge could help, the answer was, “If someone is available.” For the premium price, I expected much better hospitality. There’s no airport shuttle, which surprised me given the cost and what comparable hotels offer. There’s also no pool or hot tub. When we asked the concierge about those amenities, we were pointed to the bathtub in our washroom, which felt dismissive. The experience didn’t justify the price.

The rooms were great and very clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s close to the city centre, and breakfast was nice. We stayed three nights in a front room, where music from below was pretty loud until 10pm. A couple of breakfast details were disappointing: when I asked for an orange, I was told it came as a packet drink, and marmalade wasn’t available.

The room felt premium, with lovely decor, a little window seat, and even a Smeg kettle. It was spacious, and the bathroom was huge. I parked in the lot beside the hotel for $5 overnight for three nights and had no trouble. I LOVE this hotel!

This is always my first choice in Calgary, and I’m a huge fan. The restaurant is phenomenal, and late evening room service is a treat. The front desk staff are wonderful too. Parking can be a challenge, though downtown Calgary is what you’d expect. I love the decor and the modern luxury touches in the room, including customizable lighting. One thing I’ve wondered about on my last couple visits is the single-ply toilet paper, lol.
