Wingate by Wyndham Calgary

My biggest concern was the last night of my four-night work stay in January 2026. A very drunk Australian man bothered guests, including me, as well as the front desk staff. He wandered the hallway outside my room for hours, whistling until around 1 am, and I heard him mumble, “I don't want to kill people, but I will.” I didn’t feel safe leaving my room. I called the front desk to ask if they could call the cops, especially since Calgary’s main cop shop is literally next door. The staff said they’d contacted their manager, who told them to “hide in the back.” The front desk staff were polite and helpful, so I don’t blame them, but in my opinion this was bad management. I won’t stay again. The front desk staff were friendly and the room was decent. Temperature control was a little odd but not a big deal, and the hot tub was nice after work. The WiFi was pretty shoddy if that matters to you, and the continental breakfast wasn’t great, though it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

The room was cozy and nice, and the front desk team made us feel welcome and helped us out. What really caught us off guard was how clean everything was. It might be the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We loved our visit to the wingate and would recommend it.

The pool and waterslide kept my kids entertained for hours, and the staff were really friendly. The hotel is centrally located, close to lots of restaurants, shopping, and a movie theatre. We had a fun little family staycation, and breakfast was delicious. Hope we can come back for another one.

There’s plenty of coffee, juice, and milk, along with cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The continental breakfast is nicely laid out, but the precooked frozen eggs get rubbery if they sit for 20 minutes. Fresh scrambled eggs could be a better option. The hotel is large and beautifully furnished, with modern, clean rooms and room for many guests. It sits just off McLeod Trail SE at Sunlake Blvd, and the bright parking lot lights and green lighting around the building make it feel welcoming.
