Super 8 by Wyndham Cambridge/Kitchener/Waterloo Area

The desk attendant was very nice, but the room was dirty and worn out. There were wood shavings on the floor when we arrived, apparently left behind after work on the door lock. After a long day, we hoped to relax with TV, but every channel was grainy. The fridge cabinet was also in rough shape. Breakfast was mostly fruit, yogurt, and cereal bars, with a dry, gross breakfast sandwich as another option. We chose somewhere else the following night. This room wasn’t worth $170. We’d stayed at other Super 8 locations and expected better.

We decided we couldn’t stay after seeing the room and the conditions around the motel. On January 30th, 2026, with it around -15 outside, we first asked to view our room because the property smelled bad and looked unkempt. The receptionist was friendly, but our room was across the building, so we had to walk the main floor corridors. We saw people with groceries, barking dogs, yelling, banging doors, people sitting in the halls, dirty conditions, and an unclean stench. The room itself was filthy and freezing. We went straight back and told the receptionist we were leaving. The motel’s website photos and description felt very deceiving. We didn’t feel safe, and there seemed to be no hygiene standards. It came across more like a homeless shelter than the clean, comfortable, safe accommodation advertised for guests. I would not stay here.

I called before arriving and spoke with Shauna at the front desk. She assured me early check-in would be okay and said there were plenty of clean rooms with two double beds, so I booked that room type as she suggested. But when I got there, she said I had to wait three hours and claimed she didn’t remember our call from 30 minutes earlier. It was quiet, and she told me she was the only person working. I reminded her we’d just spoken, but she was rude and walked away. She had told me to come in half an hour, then sent me away for three more hours. I called head office, got put on hold and transferred to another number, and they did nothing. I left and told them to keep my money. Later I searched this location at 650 hespeler rd Cambridge and saw reports of two females being stabbed recently, as well as a recent fire. Fatal things happen at this place. I’m glad I lost my money and didn’t stay. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Large dogs barked in the hall all night, and the room was cold, dark, and dirty, with a big gap under the door. The shower faucet leaked through the night. The heat unit had no comfortable setting, so I kept getting up to turn it off when it got too warm, then waking up freezing. The room looked nothing like the picture. I’m not usually picky, but this place was disgusting. Surprised Wyndham puts their name on it. Find somewhere else.
