Above Tide Motel

We had a great view, and sometimes even spotted whales passing by. The manager or owner was super friendly and happy to help. The room and bathroom were clean and in great shape, with a coffee machine, fridge, freezer, and kettle. It’s a little walk from the main town.

We spent two nights in an Oceanfront King Room on the second floor in mid-July, and the air conditioning was a big help in the warm weather. From the road, the motel doesn’t look like much, but we were happy with our stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there were several places to sit, including a table with two chairs. We made breakfast with the microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge. We brought bowls for oatmeal; glasses, mugs, silverware, and I think plates were provided. Sitting on the deck one evening to watch the boats and cruise ships go by was a treat. The south side of Campbell River was convenient, and the staff were friendly. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator and the parking area is a bit tight, though neither affected our stay.

Our private balcony on the second floor looked out over the ocean, with gorgeous views. The room decor was lovely, and the staff were friendly, hospitable, and very service-oriented. Having self-serve laundry midway through our travels was a blessing. Tea lovers will be pleased there was a kettle as well as the usual coffee pot. The property is a little removed from the centre of town, so without a vehicle, leave enough time for the short walk to restaurants.

The sheets were brown, so I’m not sure they were being bleached. The bed was so soft we couldn’t sleep, and the room smelled bad. It was dark, dingy, and absolutely gross.
