Coast Discovery Inn

For almost six months I was in Campbell River for work, staying two nights a week. After trying a few hotels in this price range, I settled on the Coast. They always gave me the same clean, tidy room, which made each visit feel familiar. The staff were lovely, greeted me warmly every week, and helped whenever I needed it. Changing stay dates was easy, just a quick call or chat with the front desk. I'll miss seeing everyone there, and highly recommend it for a short city visit or recurring work trips. It really felt like a home away from home.

The team at Discovery Inn made our holiday Christmas party a great time. Victor and the serving staff were professional, friendly, and fun. The food was great, and the Prime rib was the best I've had in a long time, even compared with Wagyu. I'd come back.

I've returned to the Discovery several times over the years. It's good value, with clean, comfortable rooms that are reasonably updated and have comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the complementary breakfast was better than average. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Campbell River.

The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, with a professional feel, but I got a poor first impression at check-in. I arrived late, and the man at the desk asked why I was there. I said I was checking into my room and apologized for being late. He asked if I was sure I had the right place, saying I surely didn't have a room there and might be mistaken. I told him he had the right person and gave him my ID and credit card. It took him a few minutes to find my reservation, and then he was rather nice. It was disappointing to feel stereotyped based on my appearance, or his perception of it. Aside from staff being quick to judge people that way, it's a nice hotel.
