We ended up leaving a night early because the room was so uncomfortable, and all the hotel did was comp our $40 early check-in fee. We had booked the room literally titled “luxury” for our first family vacation with my partner and our 8 month old baby, and I expected a comfortable temperature for that price. Instead, it reached 28 degrees Celsius, especially in the bedroom where the baby slept. I know because his baby monitor has a temperature sensor. I contacted the front desk several times, but they said the air conditioning lacked the right sensor to switch off when it should, and they could only run it when overnight temperatures stayed above 12 degrees. In Alberta, in the mountains, nights don't often stay that warm. So despite the heat in our room, we couldn't use the A/C, and the front desk did nothing to fix it. I'm not sure how they could ignore a temperature that felt unsafe for our 8 month old.

The room was epic, and the staff were great, having to deal with upset guests. Service was good too, but not having access to the pool or hot tub was a huge letdown. This place operates under multiple names, Paradise Resort and Sunset Resort. Do not book under Sunset Resort if you want pool or hot tub access, you have to book under Paradise Resort. The booking is misleading because it shows pictures of the pool and hot tub. We had this problem, and I saw another group behind us run into the same thing. A 3 year old was crying because his parents had booked under Sunset.

The condo was beautiful and more than we expected. Getting to the room was tricky, though. We unloaded our luggage, then found out we had to pack it all up again and drive to another building.

We loved having coffee on the balcony while watching the sunrise, and the kids enjoyed seeing the seemingly endless train cars. The unit was on the other side of the railway, so allow a few extra minutes to cross to the rest of town. It took about half an hour to reach the main tourist spots in the Banff area. We stayed two nights as a family of six in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit. There was a spacious living room and a kitchen with utensils, bowls, plates, and a dishwasher. Restaurants, a bagel shop, bakery, and supermarket were within walking distance, and there was also a restaurant downstairs. The front desk was friendly and efficient, the pool was clean and well maintained, and the unit had laundry powder, a dryer, and included indoor parking.

I'd come back if they address the washer mold and staff smoking in the non-smoking area by the entrance. Apart from those issues, the staff were friendly, kind, organized, and clean. The indoor pool with a slide and a partly outdoor big jacuzzi were awesome. There was also a small gym, a great restaurant, and a lounge for games and activities. It was a pretty fun, great stay.
