The best part was how easily everyone connected. There were travelers from all over, and the place had a lively, youthful feel, but we still felt completely at ease there as a family. Staff and volunteers were so kind, and they even played with our son. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the shared areas were spotless and well organized. It was a lovely mix of fun, downtime, and good conversations. We'd happily come back.

The location made getting to Forillon National Park's hiking trails easy, about a 10-20 minute drive, and Gaspé city was only around 35 minutes away. When our car battery started acting up, a volunteer lent us a battery starter kit so we could carry on with our trip and hike. Everyone there, from the owner to the volunteers, was really helpful and friendly. It was also one of the cleanest, roomiest hostels I've stayed in, and had everything we needed.

Breakfast came with a great view, which was a lovely way to start the day. Amélie and her crew were welcoming and on top of things, and they lent us a few towels. One of the staff also played some piano melodies for my 9-year-old daughter. Thanks again, you guys rock!

August 20, 2025, disappointing experience (Update below) My wife and I arrived without a reservation. There were no rooms available, so we were offered a spot on the lawn for our tent, and we paid $40. At first the place seemed welcoming. We planned to stay for several days, but after going out on a trip the next day, we got back around 7 p.m. to find our tent torn up, filthy, and unusable. It turned what should have been a simple camping stay into something that felt hostile and unsafe. We couldn't find anywhere else that night, so we had to stay one more night. We felt disrespected and mistreated. This is based on our personal experience, and in our opinion the place felt unsafe and untrustworthy. It was not respectful. Update after response: The tent damage wasn't caused by wind, unfortunately. We'd left it properly set up and secured, with our luggage and mattress inside. When we returned it was unusable, full of grass and insects, and took a lot of time to fix. Our bags still have grass on them. To me, it felt like the tent had been destroyed. We left without explaining our plans because this is a tourist area, our excursion ran late, and we were paddling on the sea without phone access. Leaving the tent and all our belongings there was a clear sign we'd return and pay as agreed. We actually intended to stay longer. It felt like an unpleasant retaliation because we hadn't said we were staying an extra day. The young man who helped us put the tent back together was kind and understood how difficult our situation was. We're grateful for his help. Still, when we returned from our trip, the workers' reaction made it clear we were being identified as “the couple with the tent.” That added to our discomfort. We left feeling the opposite of welcomed, and unsafe.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the place was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. There was a shared space, patio seating, and a bonfire area where people could sit and chat. I stayed here while traveling in Atlantic Canada, and the beautiful setting made it one of my favorite places. I'd recommend it.
