Gite des Lilas

I was shocked and upset by how the price changed, but I paid. Five minutes later, when we were leaving, the owner didn't even come to the door to say goodbye. She knew she'd just cheated us. Not nice. I had asked by phone for one room for two adults and two kids, normally priced at $125. It wasn't available, but the owner offered two rooms for $125, so of course I agreed. The next morning I went to pay cash as a thank-you for her kindness, and she said it was $165. Apparently that was $125 plus $20 for each child, a fee she never mentioned on the phone. If she had, I definitely would have refused. $165 is too expensive. Then she said it would otherwise have been $185, corrected herself, and said $215. Was I supposed to feel grateful for such a huge discount?

The final bill came to 30% above what we'd discussed on the phone. Don't waste your time!

The room cost a lot for a place that was cute but otherwise nothing special. Breakfast starts late, at 8:30 am, so anyone up early with plans for the day will miss it. The owner seemed uncomfortable when we arrived and gave us no information. At a lower price, it would've been acceptable. For what it costs, I expect better. In short, if you're in a bind...

It has the feel of our grandparents' house, and the cottage is absolutely charming. Beautiful, clean, and welcoming. I'll definitely come back!
