The owner is rude and likes to yell at customers, including an Expedia agent. The place was overpriced for what you get. Our pull-out bed was broken, so all four of us had to sleep in one king sized bed. The rooms were outdated and badly painted, and the TV was not a smart TV and had maybe four channels. The beach is about an eight minute drive, not a five minute walk unless you can teleport. The hot tub was lukewarm, with only half the jets working, and the roof over it was so low that my wife and I both hit our heads.

The service from the staff and owners is what saved the experience for me. When we reported the fridge and AC problems from the first couple of nights in cottage 8, the owner soon came speedwalking through the heatwave with a new fridge on a hand truck. They also got us a bigger AC unit once they realized ours wasn’t cooling the cottage. Karen was helpful too. The cottage was clean and nice when we arrived, but it’s showing its age. The floor and deck had a noticeable slope, and phone charger plugs kept falling out of the sockets. I got the sense the owners are upgrading as they can, and I noticed some new metal roofs. The location worked well for the kids, right in the middle of Cavendish. Wi-Fi was hit or miss, as others have noted.

We had a good stay, but for the price we paid, or what it looks like next year will cost, I wouldn’t recommend it. The location is hard to beat, with shining waters visible from the cabin, and when we arrived the deluxe two bedroom cabin #23 was very clean and had the basics like utensils, salt and pepper, and towels. There were loads of earwigs inside, and we kept finding and killing them the whole trip. One bedroom had no screen and the other screens were damaged. The AC knob was broken, so it was either off or on maximum. The dishwasher didn’t work. When I called, they came by and said you have to plug the water in before using it and unplug it afterward or it will leak. They said they knew it needed a new part, but it was expensive or difficult to find. We asked twice about the pool not being heated. Both times they said it was and that they’d check, but it absolutely wasn’t. We visited a friend at another resort down the road, and that pool really was heated.

The cabin was clean and tidy, but there was an awful first impression: two old cement staircases placed back to back in the middle of the yard, in front of an abandoned flower bed. Even worse, they’d put the well mechanics for the entire campground in the master bedroom closet. Each time someone used water, the system banged as it switched on and off, making it impossible to sleep. I’ll never go back and would suggest others do the same. There are plenty of other places to stay there.

Cabin 11 was cozy, and we really enjoyed our stay. My boyfriend and I went in early June when there weren’t many people around. The space allocated for parking was much too small for his F-150, but because the place was quiet, they let us use a different spot at a nearby cottage. It’s close to lots of attractions and fun tourist spots, and we’ll likely book again.
