The Holman Grand Hotel

The location is beautiful, and the respectful, fantastic service made our stay special. Thomas went above and beyond and deserves a promotion. I'd highly recommend combining the Pent House Hospitality suite with the king suite.

We were already trying to make sense of a frightening day when the way Holman Grand Hotel handled things made it even harder. I had a concussion, and my partner Michael, who was staying there for a conference, was also dealing with a medical emergency. We asked to stay just a few more hours to regroup and see if we could safely travel. At first the hotel said that was fine, then suddenly told us we had to leave because it was “sold out.” The explanation that there was absolutely no flexibility didn't ring true, especially since Michael was there for a conference and our request seemed reasonable. The manager and front desk staff were dismissive and rude, with no compassion or professionalism despite our explaining what was happening. We tried to fly home that day even though neither of us was well, but we couldn't travel, and Michael ultimately had to be rushed to the hospital. Earlier in the stay, I suffered a significant head injury in the hotel restaurant. Our table was directly beneath a low steel pole with no warning or visual cue, an unsafe place for a dining table. I stood up while talking and hit my head hard enough to briefly black out. I felt unwell afterward and was clearly shaken. I took a long time to write this because the experience during our early October 2025 stay was genuinely upsetting, and I wanted to be fair and factual. People across PEI were overwhelmingly kind, warm, and supportive, and this is only about our distressing experience at the hotel, not the island or its people. Between the unsafe restaurant setup, the medical situation, and the staff's response, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. Charlottetown has many wonderful places to stay and eat, but unfortunately this wasn't one of them.

We planned to stay one night, but enjoyed it enough to book a second. Thomas was very helpful at check-in and made sure we were looked after. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the location was great. I also liked that well-behaved dogs can be left in the room on their own.

I've stayed here many, many times, and the hotel and staff keep up the same high standards. It's new, exceptionally clean, and the staff are excellent: friendly, respectful, and consistently fabulous.
