They won't accept registered service dogs. I was willing to pay extra to stay four nights, but the owners were horrible. Discrimination.

The price is cheap, but you give up peace and quiet. Management is bad and doesn't control unruly guests. Frisbees and baseballs were being thrown at my vehicle, so if you want to sleep, don't stay here. The bugs will keep you warm at night too.

Cockroaches! I told the owner, who already knew about the problem and thinks it's confined to a few older rooms at the end of the hotel. She either doesn't know what she's talking about or just doesn't care about the issue. The rooms are unkept and disgusting. As I was driving away, she opened my car door, put herself in front of my car, and tried to grab my phone so I couldn't post this. I drove away and told the police what happened. Now I'm in public. You've been warned. It's up to you whether you stay, but there are plenty of clean, brand-new hotels in the area for a better rate. I don't know how this place is still open.

We were stranded by the highway, six adults, two kids, and two dogs, calling around for a place to stay. The owners of Colonial Motel heard what happened and personally drove to pick us up. They welcomed our dogs and made sure we had drinks and food to keep us comfortable. They also gave us a discount upfront, a generous gesture when someone else might have taken advantage of our situation. The motel was spotless and right in the heart of Chatham, which was very convenient. Their kindness turned a stressful ordeal into a heartwarming memory and reminded us of the goodness in people and the kindness of Canadians. If you're in Chatham, stay here. We couldn't have asked for better service or a warmer welcome.
