Days Inn Wallaceburg

We came for two days over the Easter holidays. The bed was never made and we didn't get clean towels. Breakfast was meant to be included, but there was no food. I went to the front desk and couldn't find anyone, even after ringing the bell. The place felt totally empty.

I woke up with a tick crawling up my leg. There were two queen beds in the room, but the white duvet cover on one was filthy. That should've been my first clue about the cleanliness. I thought the other, cleaner-looking bed would be safe. If you need to stay in the area, make the drive back to Chatham instead. Do NOT stay here.

The room was quiet, tidy, and in a good location. I stayed one night in room 208 and woke up feeling refreshed, though the beds were only moderately comfortable. Staff were kind when I arrived, and the service was quick and easy. The breakfast wasn't all that great, but that's my only small complaint. A pleasant stay, and I'd recommend it for a quick night.

The location worked well for the town, but the staff were rude and aggressive from the moment we arrived. That first exchange felt strange and standoffish, and I was taken aback by the poor customer service. There was an unpleasant smell in the lobby and when the room AC was running, which was a problem because nights get very hot. The sheets were stained when we got in. After a nine-hour drive, we took off the top sheets and made do. The curtains were stained and torn at the edges, the extra blankets in the wardrobe were chewed off at the ends and torn, and the lamps were wrapped in plastic, presumably to keep them clean. There was dried human debris on both the inside and outside surfaces of the lamps. When we raised the condition of the room with staff the next day, they showed no concern. It seemed to us they knew how disgusting it was when they gave it to us. They said there was a one-hour window for complaints, though we had checked in around 9-10 pm after driving for hours, and there was no policy posted. They wouldn't move us or ask if we needed room service to address the cleanliness. They said the motel was full, but the parking lot had only six cars and a water truck. Nobody walks there to stay, so surely there were other rooms. Avoid this place if you can. If you do stay, check that the beds and frequently touched spots like the lamps are clean, and take photos of any damage when you arrive.
