Our two-night stay at the hotel was flawless, and we wouldn't have changed a thing. We held our wedding reception in the Derby Room, where both the food and drinks were top notch. From the bartenders to everyone else we dealt with, the staff worked as a team to make the night perfect. Management and staff had been incredible from the start, accommodating us and guiding us through every step of planning.

The Rock and Roll room was comfortable and very clean, and the hotel's location makes it easy to walk downtown to restaurants and bars. Sons of kent is right across the street. I loved having a free coffee bar in the lobby, too. I had a delicious cappuccino when I checked in. Love Retro suites Hotel, it checks all the boxes.

I was in town on business for two nights and slept so well in the Home Suite that I didn't want to get up. It's themed like staying over at your grandma's, if you know what I mean. The place was quiet and squeaky clean, and I liked the 24-hour hot drinks station in the lobby. I'd take that over the single-cup coffee makers in hotel rooms any day. There was one cold shower on the first morning because the boiler unexpectedly failed, but they fixed it. These things happen. The restaurant is a little pricey, though there are plenty of other places to eat within a few blocks if you're on a budget. If traffic bothers you, ask for a room away from the main intersection. For under $200, it was great value for a four-star hotel, and I'd stay again next time I'm in Chatham.

Retro Suites is my choice if I need to stay in Chatham again. I was there for the Mayor's Heritage Day and Awards in the Derby Room, and since I live a little over an hour away, I wanted somewhere to rest beforehand and sleep after the event. The Southwest room was comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and bathtub. The building is a beautiful, quirky adaptive reuse with distinctive heritage features, a great fit for the day's theme. The staff were professional, and I had no problems. I didn't use the TV. I wasn't bothered by the sound of water moving through the pipes, though I can see how it might bother some people. If road noise keeps you awake, ask for a room away from the main road.

A couple of small things came up, like a remote that didn't work, but the staff were keen to help. The attached restaurant is amazing, and this is such a cool, eclectic place. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else when I'm in SW Ontario.
