Ridgetown Inn

This place has potential, but it needs someone willing to put in the effort to make it sparkle again. The pool seems to be out of service, which is disappointing. I'd call the hotel unique: it isn't an upscale stay, but it has more of a small-town, family feel, where people understand people are people. The room we'd booked had a strong, musty smell, but the man at the front desk went to great lengths to find one I could be happy with.

This was a nightmare. The rooms are being renovated, but there were holes in the drywall, broken doors and locks, and no comforter, with only a few pillows and towels. The thermostat was broken and the electric heater didn't warm the room. There was no heat, no hot water, and the TVs didn't work in every room. The sprinkler system might not work either. There's never anyone at the front desk, and the room phones are useless, so you have to call the main number on your own phone. They shouldn't be open.

The bed was comfortable, but the room needs a lot of work. The TV powered on with a squealing sound and no picture, and the rooms are due for a full overhaul. The pillows were hard, and the hot water took ages to warm up. The sink taps were broken and had to be positioned just right to shut the water off. The vending machine didn't work, and the non-smoking inn smelled like a dirty, stale ashtray.

This was easily the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in, and I don't know how to give it zero stars. The air conditioning and TV didn't work, the sink had no water, and the shower barely ran, with its head about to fall off. The bathroom was rotten, the floor had old musty carpet, and there was a random stained old couch in the room. It smelled of smoke, had rusted wall tiles, and exposed electrical sockets. It felt like a motel from a horror film, and it cost over $130 a night. I've never felt compelled to write a review until this gross place. Do not stay here.
