The morning rush was a real test for the staff, and the server handled a packed restaurant on her own with a smile, taking orders, bringing food, clearing tables, answering the phone and working the till. I didn’t catch her name, but she was petite, wore glasses and had two Labrador retrievers. The pub server was just as friendly and efficient, and made our dog welcome on the patio. We ate well, too. We were travelling with our small dog, and the Lodge gave us a clean, quiet room at the back, with a little grassy patch out front for playing fetch. The property was well cared for and had plenty of parking. A memorable stop on our way home. We’d happily come back.

The food was a highlight, with a great selection of tasty local dishes, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, if a bit dated. At first, the woman who greeted us at the pub seemed grumpy and joked about our foreign accents, which didn’t feel good. She was kind and helpful later in the evening, especially after dinner. The woman at the front desk and at breakfast was so warm and welcoming, always smiling.

The rooms were basic, but spotless, spacious, comfortable and very quiet, and the shower had good water pressure. We stopped overnight while passing through Clinton. Dinner was fresh, cooked just right and served in huge portions, with friendly service in a cozy pub. The beer was good, though I’d have liked more BC craft options. It’s clearly well managed, and I’d stay again.

We only stopped for food and didn’t stay overnight, but the meal was amazing. I can only imagine they keep the rooms just as well. Ten out of ten, I’d suggest stopping in to eat.
