Econo Lodge

I left my charger behind and called to ask if the motel manager, Digvijay, could mail it to me. He was very kind and helpful, and the whole process went smoothly. We’d stayed one night at Econo Lodge while visiting Cochrane, Ontario to see Polar Bears. The room was large, newly renovated, and clean. The walls were thin, though, so noise was the one problem. Thanks very much for your help, Digvijay!

The cleanliness here is ridiculous. The motel replies to reviews to save face, but doesn’t do anything to improve its sanitary conditions. It’s filthy and not worth the money, so stay somewhere else if you can. This seems to go along with changes in the community. The same people run the hotel and don’t understand the cleanliness standards in this country.

Digvijay, the motel manager, was very kind and helpful with all my requests. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the motel is right across highway 11, with restaurants and grocery stores easy to get to. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it for a future visit.

The price is good, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Breakfast was terrible: when we arrived at 8:30 on the second day, there was only one yogurt left and no granola bars. The small oatmeal packets, toast, and bananas didn’t work for us. Parking was awful too, apparently large vehicles and their escorts sometimes take up most of the lot. We were also woken the first night by a family fighting and children yelling. The air conditioner was very noisy, and the bed felt like there was sand in the sheets. Check-in threw off our schedule as well: at 3:40 nobody was at the desk, and two other men had already waited over an hour. I phoned and was told the person was out of the motel. We left and got checked in when we returned at 4:20.
