Prestige Oceanview Hotel Prince Rupert

It was great to find a room where pets were allowed. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Since a boil water notice was in effect and we didn’t know the front desk was supplying water until we left, we had to buy some. Our ferry was late, arriving at 1:30 am, and construction started at 8.

I’m a general contractor and book recurring stays for myself and my crew. I’d had an excellent experience at Prestige Hotel in August, so I returned for a longer stay, but this visit has been the complete opposite. I asked for daily room service at check-in and had it written down. After two in-person talks and three email exchanges with the front desk and management, my room still wasn’t cleaned and the bed wasn’t made. They sent a written apology promising improvement, but the next day nothing had changed. I also asked for cleaning between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and that request was ignored. I’ve been respectful and patient, but the lack of follow-through, accountability, and care is unacceptable. This is by far the worst customer service I’ve experienced, and I’m utterly shocked. I’m moving my business to another hotel down the street and won’t book with Prestige for myself or my crew again. I expect senior management to contact me directly about this.

The location was perfect and the staff were really friendly. I had a great view from my room, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were amazing. The showers were great too, and the towels were SOFT!

Our suite had a kitchen, which was a welcome surprise and let us make our own meals. The rooms are standard, the linen smelled recently washed, and the property was generally clean, though it’s an old building that appears to have been redecorated. The lobby was clean and somewhat redecorated, with a computer and vending machine. The standout was the basement fitness centre, with brand new equipment and an excellent selection. There’s no restaurant onsite, but nearby places serve pizza, Indian, Greek, Chinese, and Vietnamese food. Breakfast is free but basic, with no hot dishes, just cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, and drinks. Restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Front desk staff were pleasant, though they didn’t know much about local activities. Room cleaning isn’t daily, and they’re clear that you need to give 24 hours notice; they have only two cleaners for the whole property. The hotel is in a less desirable part of town, so be mindful walking around at night. It’s a basic place, suitable for a couple of nights, especially if taking the Inside Passage Ferry between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert. It’s reasonably close to the terminal, but you’ll need a car or taxi to get there.
