El Lobo Motel

I was working nearby and found the room comfortable. It had a coffee machine, bar fridge, and microwave, though you can’t bring cooking appliances from home. They made the bed and changed the towels every day. WiFi was available in the room.

Most of the staff have been professional and non-judgmental, but two night workers, a young man and a young woman, were openly talking about me while I was right there. The man told me the hotel would no longer accept debit or cash deposits. When I checked with the manager, she said that wasn’t hotel policy. Thankfully, I have a credit card, but it seemed that rule applied only to me. When I first checked in weeks ago, I’d go out for a smoke and the same man at the front desk would park where he could see me every time. I don’t know how he knew I was outside my room, but he was always there. Later, when I wanted to extend my stay, the female security guard seemed unhappy to let me in after hours. I lock my credit card when I’m not using it, and when I explained that, the man looked over at her and spoke in their own language. Their expressions seemed judgmental, and this kind of treatment from those two happened regularly. When I tried to leave after hours, the manager later explained that staff are supposed to open the locked doors. I stood in a locked room for five minutes while the two of them talked to each other and stared at me. I couldn’t get back into the lobby or leave the building. I could say more, but I think this is enough to let people know that while 98% of the staff treated me with respect, these two did not.

The rooms are clean and recently renovated, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The rooms were CLEAN, the beds super comfy, and the staff friendly. My only issue was the little A/C unit couldn’t, or didn’t, cool the room as much as I wanted for sleeping. To be fair, it was 35°C outside during our stay, so it may work nicely in average temperatures, or for people who don’t want to feel like they’re sleeping in the arctic.
