We arrived late, and they kindly stayed up for us. Our room looked out over the river, and the house is full of character, with tall ceilings, wood strip floors, broad staircases, wainscoting, and antiques on every floor. The host was very accommodating and made the breakfast we wanted. Since it was off season, they were flexible about check-in and check-out.

We only came in for coffee, but the building itself is lovely and clearly has a lot of history. The owner sat with us and shared plenty about it. It was too chilly to use the balcony over the water, though it looked lovely from indoors too. I was pleasantly surprised to find gluten-free, dairy-free muffins on the menu. That was great!

On July 16th, we stayed at this beautifully restored early 20th-century mansion and bed and breakfast while driving our Jeep from Vancouver to Newfoundland. Brent was a delight to talk with, and knew so much about the house, its history, and the community. He even lent us informative books about the paddle wheelers and stern wheelers that traveled the St. John river through the years. The breakfast Brent cooked was wonderful, and we slept comfortably. The clawfoot tub and shower were a nice touch in the room. Our cat enjoyed the stay too. The place welcomes pets, and there’s also a lovely old cat on the premises. We’d definitely stay again.

Gary made a couple of fabulous cocktails and filled us in on the area and its history. Lisa’s quilts are spectacular, and Brent made us a great breakfast and was just as charming. The family-run place was beautiful, our room was lovely and very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Thanks to all of you for making the last day of our vacation so memorable!

The cat here was just perfect. I stopped during the off season for a break on a long drive, and the quiet stay and lovely service have me wanting to return. The food and coffee really impressed me. There’s a lovely potter gallery within walking distance, and the St John makes for a beautiful view.
