On arrival, we got a tour of the building, plus homemade cookies and tea and coffee. It has a lovely, warm, quaint feel, with incredible ambiance. The place reminded us of a home from the turn of the century, but with modern comforts. There’s a jacuzzi tub that fits right in with the bookshelves in the parlour. I’m looking forward to the proprietor’s special breakfast in the morning, and I’ll save this as a stop on our way to the mountains.

The owner was very welcoming, which is the only reason I gave this hotel three stars. The room wasn’t great: there’s no bathroom fan, and the ceiling was peeling from condensation when we showered. The sheets and towels smelled of sweat, and some bedding left on the bench looked like it had already been used. For what we paid per night, we could have found a better room elsewhere. We had a plentiful hot breakfast in the morning: fruit, yogurt, bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee, and orange juice. The dining room’s cozy atmosphere and all the antiques made it easy to have a great conversation with other guests, who were just as impressed. From the reservation through checkout, the hospitality was what tourism should be. We heard the building and family business history when we arrived, then got a thorough tour of the property and vacant rooms. Ours, like the others, was beautifully decorated with antiques and complementary decor. Thanks for the lovely stay!

The staff were friendly, and I loved the dog, such a cute pup. There were lots of cookies to help yourself to. Our room was clean and well stocked with towels and other things. Breakfast was nicely presented in a pan skillet, with orange juice, yogurt, and banana bread. As much as I love Denny’s, they’ve got nothing on this place. See you soon.
