Quality Inn

I had a terrible check-in and wouldn’t recommend this place. Even with a reservation, I couldn’t get into my room, and they wanted more money to check in. From the start, the woman at the front desk made the whole thing difficult. I eventually went to another hotel, where I was treated like a customer and found much better service and hospitality. I’ve rarely been talked down to like that by someone I didn’t know. It was the worst hotel check-in experience I can remember, and I hope I don’t have to go through it again anytime soon. I wouldn’t even give this place one star.

We’ve stayed at other Quality Inns, but this one is somewhere we’d never return to. The parking lot was rough and uneven, and the person at registration came across as unfriendly, as if we were interrupting his day. There was no information about the hotel or Corner Brook, and nothing explaining how to work the air conditioner. It was so noisy that we had to switch it off. We also couldn’t hang our clothes because the rack was SO high!

That parking lot feels like an obstacle course dreamed up by a caffeinated toddler with no depth perception. Getting through it tests your patience. Calling it a parking lot almost misses the point, it’s a sociological experiment.

We stayed here during part of our move across Canada because it accepts pets, but we won’t be back. My husband is in the military and should have received the military rate. At checkout, the front desk woman seemed unsure how to handle it and wouldn’t call her manager, so we had to pay the non-government rate. The restaurant has a pretty view and serves a good breakfast, which was the one good thing. In our room, the outside door stuck for days, making it hard to bring in the rest of our luggage. Some furniture was broken, the window had a large crack inside, and the room felt muggy and damp. The WiFi also had no password, which seems like a serious security risk since anyone in range could connect and might access information.
