Ramada Cornwall

My stay was horrible, but Shannon at the front desk was the one bright spot. She was welcoming, efficient, and helpful from the moment I arrived. She handled check-in smoothly and answered all my questions with a smile. I really appreciate her work ethic and kindness. She represented the hotel so well during my stay.

I’ve stayed at the Ramada Inn Cornwall for business twice a year over the last three years, usually for a week at a time. The people there are nice, but my most recent visit was so bad that I won’t return. There are better, more up-to-date hotels closer to the 401. They upgraded me to a room with a fireplace, which sounded great until I was told it didn’t give off heat. It turned out to be a broken electric fireplace that rattled and squeaked while its fake-flame mechanism ran. All week, my wife heard birds squawking day and night. The hotel was projecting sounds of owls killing black crows from the roof to scare away crows roosting nearby. The bathroom sink was clogged and had to drain after brushing your teeth before you could do anything else. The room heater and thermostat didn’t work either.

The decor is lovely and the prices are reasonable. Customer service was "Hors paire," a five out of five. Coffee came in a "Thermos" on the counter, pretty much what you’d expect.

The room was neat and tidy, and this hotel was pet friendly, which I loved. The location was good too, near restaurants and stores and not far from the highway. The bed was the only thing keeping this from five stars. I sank into the mattress, and not in a good way. I’m only 5”2 and average weight, and I woke up with a stiff back. New mattresses should be the next upgrade. I’d stay again with my pup because my options are limited, and the customer care really was that good. From late check-in to breakfast, the service was superb. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and accommodating even though I arrived pretty late. The woman looking after the breakfast buffet was so diligent about restocking and cleaning, which really impressed me. Hotel buffet service is often minimal, but she worked so hard.
