Dartmouth Oceanview Hotel

This was my second stay, and both visits went well. The rooms aren’t the newest, but they’ve always been very clean and had everything I needed, and the staff have been friendly and helpful with questions. I’ve stayed using discounts, and at that price it’s worth it. I prefer a softer mattress, though, and found these too hard. The free continental breakfast was satisfying, and parking at $6.00 is cheap compared with the $20.00 Halifax hotels usually charge. It’s a few minutes’ walk to the ferry for Halifax and the Casino. We took a cab back, and it wasn’t pricey. Dartmouth Crossing and MicMac mall are also a short drive away. I’d stay again if I get more discounted tickets.

I booked at the last minute and got an amazing deal. Smoking rooms were all they had left, and since I don’t smoke, they gave me another discount for the inconvenience. The smoke smell wasn’t too bad. I’m on the top floor, and the view is amazing. WiFi has full bars and works really well, which I depend on for phone use since I’m from the US. The staff were pleasant and accommodating when I asked to see the room before checking in. They also have indoor secure parking. I’d recommend it if you’re not a snooty, uptight person with high expectations like a lot of these reviewers seem to be.

I’ve lived here since last June. There are new owners now, and a lot of shady people around. The place has gone downhill, and I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
