The George Dawson Inn & Conference Centre

I came from out of town for work and was put up in the GDI. The room was basic but had what I needed, including a microwave, fridge, and TV. There’s also a communal kitchen with two stoves, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The location is central, and coffee is available at the front every day. The staff knew me by name and treated me like a friend. Restaurant staff sit down with patrons and build good relationships. From my short stay, I could tell they’re kind people who care about their work. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

I book an average of 20-30 nights a month here for my crews, and we’ve never had an issue. They seem to understand the oil and gas work we do. It’s my go-to for both crews and personal stays in Dawson Creek. I like the historical feel, and the place is always clean with fantastic service from the staff.

It’s an older, slightly dated hotel, but the clean rooms and friendly staff make up for that. The team is always welcoming and happy to help with questions.

The roof was being repaired during our visit, but we barely noticed unless workers were directly above our suite. They worked around our schedules, starting after 9am so guests could get proper rest. Diana paid close attention to our needs and placed people in rooms that suited them, with night shift workers in lower suites or at the opposite end from the work. The staff, restaurant, and bar were all great, and the stay felt like home. It was my first time in Dawson Creek, a lovely town, and this place added to its charm. I’d definitely return.
