Coastal Inn Kingfisher

They put our rooms together for a Christmas party, so we could have an after-party without bothering anyone. A couple of us inevitably got locked out, but the staff handled it like champions. Breakfast was basic but good: bagels, toast, assorted spreads, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice and cereal.

It was clean, comfortable and friendly, though not the most luxurious place we've stayed in so far in Canada. The toiletries were the best we've had so far, with plenty of everything we needed. Would I return? Yes, definitely.

The location is great, but the check-in staff had no information about our stay. The booking company is in Utah USA, and that setup was frustrating and unnecessary. Someone else shouldn't have to get called and bothered about whether their pets are there. The manager came across as condescending and didn't show remorse for being rude. This is an internal issue that should be dealt with quickly.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and recommended eating at The Wharf, which was a great tip. Rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable, especially for someone like me who prefers a softer mattress. Breakfast was continental, with toast, yogurt and similar items. I didn't check whether an iron and ironing board might be available on request. It's not a five-star motel, but it's good value for the price, and I'd definitely recommend it and stay again.
