I don't get why anyone would rate this place poorly. Maybe they expected a Ritz Carlton, which seems insane. We stayed three nights in a two-bedroom bungalow with three full bathrooms, and I already miss the views from the deck. The cottage was rustic, which added to its charm, and had everything we could want. The beds were large and comfortable, and stacking the pillows one on top of another worked great. The bedrooms had air conditioning, the showers had strong water pressure, and the kitchenette had everything needed to cook a proper meal. The pool was large and clean, with lots of loungers. The sunsets were spectacular, and the grounds looked like something from a movie. I'm so glad we stayed here!

The pool and restaurant on site were an added bonus, and we can't wait to come back. We stumbled on this resort and were thrilled with the price, the VIEW, and the spacious rooms, which had everything we needed, including a kitchenette. It felt like a home away from home. Thanks, Laura!

The reception food was absolutely amazing, and the hall was great. The service there was good too. My brother's girlfriend did get yelled at by the woman serving drinks at the bar when she went outside with her alcohol or beer, even though nobody had told her that wasn't allowed. We were at Mountain Gap Resort for our niece's wedding, held at the chapel on the property. The carpet the bride walked down was pretty dirty. Apparently it was supposed to be cleaned that morning, but luckily she had a white runner over the full aisle, so it worked out fine. We had a cottage facing the water with a gorgeous view, but getting in was a problem. One door wouldn't unlock from either side, and the other doorknob kept turning from outside. Once we finally got in, someone always had to open the door for us from the inside. It was very annoying. Ten of us slept in the cottage. They kindly let us use two cots for the extra people and brought more towels when we asked. The beds and cots were very comfortable, but the pull-out couch was dirty, with Cheerios and dirt inside the sheets. The fridge made a very loud noise that made it hard to stay asleep, and wind came in through the windows, making it chilly since we were there after Thanksgiving weekend. It needs updating, and at $330 a night, it wasn't worth the price.

The pool was heaven, with lots of comfortable chairs, some in the sun and some in a lovely shaded area full of flowers. The employees were super nice too. Shout-out to the young girl in the restaurant, who was extremely friendly even when I showed up for food 20 minutes before closing. They're pet friendly, and my tiny dog was even allowed on the patio while I ate. I loved my stay at Mountain Gap Resort, especially my sweet little cottage overlooking the ocean. Cooking is a bit difficult because the kitchenettes are old, and the bar fridge has no freezer door, so my eggs froze. But honestly, who wants to cook on vacation? I've already told people about this lovely place, and I'll definitely be back.
