The bathroom had medium-sized ants, and the AC was loud inside the already tiny cabin. We needed it because the room felt stuffy and, with our allergies, didn't want to open the windows. The neighboring cabin was being worked on, too, with its windows covered in paper and materials left on our shared landing. We'd rented the place for two adults and a dog, but there was barely room for one person. There was nowhere to put our things except the floor or the single easy chair. The bed creaked with every movement, and the mattress was so old and soft that my 120 lb frame sank into a trough. I tossed and turned all night. Since I noticed the mattress only after it was too late, our first night of vacation after a long drive was a disaster. I barely slept, woke with a terrible headache and pain in my lower back, hip, and neck, and took two days to recover. From other reviews, it sounds like some of the other rooms are liveable, but renting this cabin in that condition felt outrageous and insulting. BEWARE!

The wedding setup outside was just right, and the reception and dancing, with a bar, had the rustic but classy feel my daughter wanted. We celebrated her wedding here, and everything worked out perfectly. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the food was wonderful. Several guests mentioned how quickly the staff served everyone without sacrificing quality. It's a great spot for an event, and we're looking forward to coming back.

We had chosen our wedding date over a year ahead for personal reasons, and had already started planning around Dominion Hill Country Inn. Losing it after being told it was available turned the experience into a stressful, heartbreaking mess. They made a visit seem necessary before booking, so we traveled there. We were told the date would be held temporarily and confirmed once they got our deposit. After a couple of weeks of back and forth, we were ready to proceed and arranged a call to go over our last questions. They'd said nobody had booked that far in advance, so we didn't feel under pressure. Then, two days after agreeing to the video call, they told us the date had been double-booked and another couple had already paid a deposit. They blamed a “communication breakdown.” We got empty apologies, with no real empathy, effort to fix things, or offer of compensation. This is a small operation with maybe four owners, so that explanation doesn't excuse the way it was handled. We were left wondering what they would've done if we'd already paid. A wedding venue should show professionalism, accountability, and basic courtesy. Our experience with Dominion Hill Country Inn was deeply upsetting. Avoid it if you don't want your wedding plans derailed.

The property is beautiful, and our tent was lovely, but it could use some fine tuning. We stayed in glamping tent 4. Its zippers had several holes and the doors couldn't be locked. That wasn't a major issue, though it's worth knowing. We were attending a wedding and getting ready there, so a mirror would've helped. The pellet stove was out of pellets, and friends in the neighboring tent found their heated sheets didn't work. I heard at least three other guests mention the same problem. Getting to the tent was a hike up an unfinished hill path, with tree roots and loose gravel. The walkway lights weren't working. When the owner was told, the response was that more lights were being shipped and there was a flashlight in the tent. There was electricity, but no other lighting option was offered. In the pitch dark, that path felt like a perfect setup for a tumble. The place is about 20 minutes from anything, and the tents have no fridge, so there's nowhere to keep your own snacks. A communal fridge in the main building is available to anyone at any time. Food options were limited to continental breakfast, with bagels, muffins, and cold boiled eggs. Honestly, breakfast wasn't bad, but there was nowhere to pick up a snack. Pack accordingly.

The setting is what made this stay so memorable. The views are breathtaking, with nature all around, and it was easy to unwind and feel connected to the outdoors. The food was a highlight too, every meal fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. I loved the clean mid-century modern look of the rooms. They felt cozy and upscale, and having several buildings to choose from gave us different room styles and atmospheres. Ruby+Benny, the resort's friendly dogs, were a sweet surprise and made the place feel even more welcoming. The lovely new owners from Saskatchewan have done an absolute 10/10 job maintaining this oasis for the future of Dominion Hill. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. I can't recommend it enough.
