Econo Lodge Inn & Suites

The hotel was clean and quiet, right in the main street area, and the staff were kind. Breakfast had a very limited selection and wasn’t good for someone gluten-free or anyone who can’t eat many carbs.

I called more than a month ahead to cancel my reservation, then phoned to get confirmation. The staff member asked, “why are you evening calling is this some stupid joke of a question?” I said I just wanted to confirm, and they hung up. My credit card is on file, so I wanted the cancellation in writing to reduce my risk. The staff were completely ignorant and unprofessional. This makes the really bad reviews seem true to me. Maybe some staff training is needed, since they can’t manage basic communication or minimal customer service. We’re happy to take our business elsewhere. Don’t stay here!

The room was freezing, and when I asked how to turn on the heat, I was told there was no heat and no need for it. I guess people were still using air conditioning, but apparently our freezing overnight didn’t matter. They eventually gave us a small heater, and when we returned that evening, the heat was on, so I assume there had been other complaints. The bed was comfortable enough, but there were only three pillows, and the same man was very rude when I asked for another. From check-in onward, he seemed unfriendly, grunting answers and not smiling at our jokes. The room also stunk to high heaven. I wondered if he owned the hotel and thought he didn’t need to be nice. Breakfast is only from 8 to 9, so too bad if you miss it, and it was very plain, all no-name stuff. We were also told the bedroom is cleaned only every second day. We wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed for one night in mid-May on a road trip holiday and had basic expectations. The location, room layout, simple breakfast, and general cleanliness all pleased us. There was no trouble with the temperature or air conditioning, and we didn’t hear street noise. Staff welcomed us on arrival and were helpful the next morning. It met our expectations completely.
