After one of the worst travel days of my life, we arrived around 1:30 am, exhausted and far behind schedule on our way to NS with our eight-month-old and dog. We’d planned to camp, but stopped at this hotel, the closest to the highway when we got to Edmundston, and asked about a pet-friendly room. The staff member was kind and apologetic, explaining that none were available, but he managed to pull some strings and help us out. I was incredibly grateful to him and management for finding us a room. The room was definitely outdated, though the AC worked really well and cooled it down nicely. I was a bit disappointed by the price for a stay from 1:30 to 11 am, especially with the room in that condition. Still, it did the trick, we got a good night’s sleep, and the staff were super friendly and accommodating.

The room was dusty, the pillows were couch-sized instead of regular bed pillows, and the towels felt rough and smelled a little moldy. We paid for two queen beds but got two doubles. When I asked the clerk, they said there was nothing they could do and that was the room we’d paid for. Breakfast was poorly stocked for the number of guests. We went at 8 am and there was barely anything left, with no workers around to ask for more. The rooms were nothing like advertised. It was a horrible experience, and I want my money back, but they refused.

The garden terrace was lovely, and we enjoyed the restaurant. Our room was clean, the shower had good pressure, and having an exterior door was great since we were travelling with dogs. There was a bar fridge, but no coffee maker, which was disappointing. The pool and hot tub weren't open early or late enough for us to use them, and breakfast wasn't included either. For what the rooms cost, I think a coffee maker and free breakfast should be part of the deal. Still, we enjoyed our stay.

For $128, I'm not going to complain. There's a small pool and fitness centre, plus public internet access near reception. The coffee machine is there too and available 24-7, but there isn't one in the room. Check-in was quick and I paid when I arrived. I'd asked for an exterior access room and got one, though the key card wouldn't work, so I had to use the interior entrance instead. It took a long time for the heat and hot water to warm up, and at first I wondered if they were working at all. They told me there wasn't another pet-friendly room.

The breakfast was a real letdown for what we paid, over $300 for a holiday weekend room with breakfast included. The only options were cereal, bread, bagels, apples, bananas and yogurt, all no-name packages. Our dog could stay, and Wyndham was the only place with a room left by the time we could confirm our summer travel plans. We figured it couldn't be that bad. We were wrong. We'd stayed at the Days Inn and Best Western in Edmunston before, and both were much better and lovely accommodations for close to the same price. They were booked, so we ended up here. We're usually easygoing and don't complain, but this was frustrating enough that I want to warn people. We'll never stay here again. The room felt decades out of date, with old stained carpets, chipped and marked furniture, and dim lighting. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke, and our daughter coughed like crazy. We made the kids keep their shoes on because we couldn't tell what might be crawling around in the carpet. The beds were decent, but the sheets were stained and very thin, and the pillows were tiny squares, more like throw pillows than standard ones. Brackets stuck out from the bed bases under the skirts, and we kept banging our legs and feet on them. The air conditioner worked, but was unbelievably noisy. The bathroom was another problem. The towels were small, thin and rough. Water drained so slowly from the shower and sink that it was past our ankles in the shower. There was just one bar of soap for the sink and nothing for the shower. My husband asked for more, but the receptionist didn't know where to find it. Eventually he found someone who brought it to our room. The shampoo and conditioner were even different brands. And there wasn't a coffee maker in the room, so my husband had to go out for a mediocre cup from the machine. Even the flower basket by the entrance, sitting on top of a larger planter instead of being placed in it, made the place look neglected. With what guests pay, the hotel needs some upgrades, even modest ones. It felt like they were glad to take our money but didn't care about their guests or reputation. I can't believe Wyndham is happy to have its name on this place. Come on, Wyndham, get it together.
