Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax Airport by IHG

I stayed one night before my flight, then another after a late flight on the way home. The rooms were spacious, clean, and nicely set up. Reception service was both professional and kind, and the breakfast was a tasty, varied way to start the day. This will be my go-to hotel when I travel.

The breakfast buffet had everything you could want, and the food was hot and delicious. Kyra was working that morning, keeping the dishes filled, the food fresh, and the tables clean. She did a great job. Greg, who drove us to the airport, was probably the best shuttle driver I’ve ever had. He was funny, entertaining, and personable, and helped with all our bags. The drive was so much fun! I stayed one night with my two teenage daughters before flying out of Halifax, and needed somewhere to leave my car for five days. From the moment I dropped it off, Mukund at the front desk was friendly, personable, and eager to help us. It was lovely to be greeted that way. The rooms were modern, with comfortable beds, nice linens, feather pillows, and a modern bathroom. You’re doing a great job. Keep it up!

The location worked well for us, less than five minutes from Halifax airport, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Other staff seemed stressed, though. The room was dirty, including the bathroom floor, and there was pink mildew in the stand-up shower. We asked to have it cleaned; staff changed the sheets, but the bathroom floor was still dirty. See the pictures. Breakfast wasn’t fresh and tasted like reheated frozen food. The hot water machine had calcium buildup. I stayed with my husband and our three-year-old.

After a month of vacation in the USA and lots of hotel stays, this was our last night and by far the nicest. We’d paid $400 a night for places that turned out to be total dives, but good old Holiday Inn came through again: clean rooms, no roaches, staff who were there when needed, and a great breakfast. We only stayed a few hours because we wanted to get on the road before the snowstorm, but they were a glorious few hours when I didn’t have to worry about sleeping on a bug. The shuttle driver was kind and really helpful, even at 3:30 a.m. We’re sticking with Holiday Inns from now on!
