Coast Edson Hotel

I came back in 2025 with a childhood friend after staying here in 2023 with my parents. Cheryl had made that first visit wonderful for all of us, especially my elderly parents, and she was just as fantastic this time. She goes out of her way to make guests feel comfortable and happy, and is kind, professional, courteous, and so helpful. Chris was also cooperative and kind during this visit. Thanks as well to Rus and the rest of the staff. The rooms were clean and breakfast was good. There’s coffee, juice, and complimentary cookies available through the day. I give this hotel an A+ and hope to return again and again. Special thanks to Cheryl, my favourite!

A handy, reasonably priced motel for a stop while heading to or from Jasper. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the staff are friendly. One thing to watch for: Garmin GPS may direct you to the motel’s old spot at the other end of town.

The breakfast setup was the best I’ve seen at any hotel, and we stay in hotels a lot as a family. There was plenty to choose from, including eggs, hashbrowns, toast, cereal, milk, fruit, wrapped banana bread, cinnamon buns and muffins, plus a huge range of condiments. I found the ham and beans an odd breakfast choice, though I ate them and would have preferred bacon or sausage. Coffee is available all day with cream, milk, several International Delight flavours, Coffee-mate, honey, and sugar. There’s also juice, lemonade, cold water, and hot water for tea or hot chocolate. I’ve long thought hotels should offer more drinks for kids, and my son was thrilled when I brought apple juice to the room at 10pm. We had originally booked Rodeway for our last night in Alberta, but our reservation was moved to Lakeview. I was annoyed at first since Rodeway is an easy walk from amenities, but the nicer rooms quickly changed my mind. The room had a closet with an ironing board and iron, cabinets for snacks, and a mini fridge. The shower had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers. I missed the chance to take a travel shampoo, but at least didn’t have to worry about contamination. There were lots of towels and snacks at check-in, too. If we’d stayed longer, all the room storage would have been especially useful. There’s a designated smoking area with a propane BBQ. One guest cooked sausage early in the morning and offered me some. I brought DVDs and my PS4 to keep my kid busy on the longest stretch of the trip, so we didn’t use the DVD library. The room did have a DVD player, though, which I wish I’d known before bringing the console. Traveling with a gen alpha is annoying. My only two gripes were that there’s no pool and the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. With a pool and a convenience or liquor store within 1km, I’d give it a 6/5. They can’t control the location, though, so it’s a five from me. Best hotel I’ve stayed at, especially for breakfast. I didn’t see any soup, though, so I’m confused about that. Would knock it to a 10.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was continental, and the staff were nice. The eggs, though, had the texture of rubber, probably from sitting out since 5AM. We were there in winter, but I couldn’t get the room cool enough at night and it felt stuffy. The digital keys barely worked, so we kept returning to the desk. They need a different system if carrying a key in your wallet deactivates the magnet.
