The forest views from the safari tents at Ruby Lake Resort are incredible. We loved sitting on the cute little front porch and taking it all in. An electric fireplace kept the tent so cozy, and it felt like a treat to be comfortable while still outdoors. The shared facilities have everything you need, and there’s a gorgeous dock for swimming in Ruby Lake. We can’t wait to come back!

Our son’s wedding at Ruby lake resort this summer was a wonderful experience. The owners were super helpful before the event, answering questions and assisting with setup, the wedding, and take down. The food and champagne service were fantastic, and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a cottage for our friends’ wedding and would definitely return. It was clean and simple, with a small kitchenette that had a fridge, double-burner electric cook top, and sink. The cottages are older and don’t have air conditioning, but there was a ceiling fan and the evenings were cool enough for us to sleep. Having an attached carport for parking was a bonus. The ceremony and reception sites were 10/10, but the service and THE FOOD stood out most. The pleasant staff were great, and breakfast, canapés, the reception dinner, and even the late night pizzas were absolutely INCREDIBLE. We’re still talking about the trout and pizzas. I’d recommend staying here, or even just visiting the restaurant.

Our cottage was tucked into the woods, with lovely surroundings, and had a main sleeping area, a sitting area, and a smaller extra bedroom. It was clean and spacious. Ruby Lake is beautiful, and the resort is tranquil. The place is a little dated, but the people were so friendly, and our room was so nice and affordable that you can’t go wrong spending a few days at this little gem.

I stayed in a rainforest tent for a couple of nights for my son’s wedding, and it was clean, peaceful, and much more comfortable than I expected. I slept like a log. Going to the dock and lake, and taking a canoe out, gave the days a nice rhythm. The fire pits, amphitheater, and well-maintained washrooms were just what I needed. Ruby Lake Resort is a beautiful retreat among trees, wildlife, and water. It isn’t a city hotel or a luxury hotel, and it doesn’t pretend to be. If you want a quiet place immersed in nature, it’s a hidden gem. The people made a big difference. Rachel and Tom at reception were warm, welcoming, and always willing to help. The cleaners and everyone else I met had a great attitude and clearly cared about guests. I had a top-notch wild boar meal at the on-site restaurant, and the wedding catering was fresh, well-prepared, and professionally delivered. I’d read some mixed reviews before arriving, and after staying, I think many were unnecessarily picky. A little baby frog showed up in my tent, and the Douglas squirrels were noisy at times. “George” the frog 🐸 and the squirrels didn’t make me lower my rating. This is their home, after all, and I was just visiting for a couple of nights. Some of the drama I read seemed a bit over the top and missed what the place is about. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend it to anyone visiting the Sunshine Coast. It’s a place where you can step away from the world for a while.
