This incident has affected the rest of our extended stay. My child is now afraid to be alone in the room, and we’ve had ongoing distress. I’m posting publicly because management said they didn’t believe my account, and the incident wasn’t acknowledged. Guests should make sure the DND sign is up and use the door latch. I forgot the latch once in two weeks, and this happened. Even if the sign had fallen, this should not have happened. Housekeeping should knock loudly, say “Housekeeping,” turn on the lights, and make noise. This was terrifying and unnecessary. Stay safe. On January 3rd at about 2 p.m., I was resting with my child in our family two-bedroom suite. We’d been registered as “Do Not Clean” for an extended stay. The room was pitch black behind the blackout curtains. I heard a key card and the internal door lock disengage, but no door opening or closing, so I first thought housekeeping had realized the mistake and backed off. Instead, someone entered quietly, opened and closed the door without sound, turned on no lights, and didn’t knock or call out “housekeeping.” I then heard soft footsteps inside. I called out asking who was there and what they were doing, but got no reply either time. Only after I demanded that the person leave did the staff member seem disoriented, likely because the room was dark. He bumped into my belongings, including a laundry drying rack, while trying to get out. At the door he said, “Sorry, there was no DND sign,” then left. A man moving around silently in the dark was terrifying. I don’t know why he did it or what his intentions were, but the behavior seemed completely abnormal and suspicious. I reported it to management. They said camera footage showed him knocking, but the cameras have no audio, and there was no verbal announcement. How can we know he didn’t pretend to knock for the cameras? I heard no knocking, and the entry was silent. Management also said he’d worked there for several years and they’d never had issues with him. That doesn’t address what happened. Length of service doesn’t remove the need to follow safety procedures. Hotel staff should knock loudly and announce themselves before entering an occupied room, especially a family suite, regardless of signage. Entering silently without lights or a verbal announcement is deeply concerning for guest safety.

Patricia was so kind and wonderful. She upgraded us to a two-room suite, which was perfect because my husband is here for work and I brought our two-year-old for the night. The rooms were very clean, everything looked great, and the pool was nice and warm. 10/10.

We didn’t get the room we paid for because the booking site made an error. We paid for three queen beds and ended up with two doubles. The room wasn’t especially clean, and I couldn’t sleep comfortably on the awful, lumpy bed with flat, terrible pillows. The hot tub was still out of service, apparently for months, though the pool was working. There was no smart TV, and the old AC unit was loud and inconsistent. For the price, the lack of modern amenities, uncomfortable, stinky room, and no breakfast make this a place I wouldn’t recommend. To add to that, they’re infested with black bugs. There was a notice left in the room, but no one disclosed it when we booked or checked in. At $180 a night, this property is unacceptable. There were no managers available either. Avoid it at all costs.

One of my favorite hotels in Fort McMurray. The quiet, modern room is worth the price, even though it isn’t the cheapest. You can’t beat the location, right off the highway, with plenty of parking for pickup trucks and trailers. They could use more staff during check-in times.

This was my first stay at this location, and it was extremely disappointing. I booked one night through Priceline for business travel and specifically asked for a dog-friendly room because I have a service dog. That wasn’t what I got, so I had to pay the difference for the right room. The pet-friendly rooms aren’t advertised online, and they’re in what I assume used to be the smoking wing. I don’t smoke, and the lingering smell was very strong. The room was 78 F when we arrived. Even after more than two hours, the AC couldn’t get it below 70 F. There were mouse traps inside the hotel, not outside. The dog-friendly rooms are down the hall from the pool, and I overheard another guest tell staff that a mouse had run into the pool area. A typed notice about a “little black bug infestation” had been left on a table at the back of the room. I didn’t see any signs, but after talking it over with my wife, who has a public health background, and considering my own paramedicine background and experience treating patients, we thought it was most likely bedbugs, despite what the notice said. Staff didn’t know about it when I raised the issue. The building seems poorly maintained. Lights were burnt out around it, part of the glass was missing from the hotel sign, the hot tub was out of service, and the property badly needs attention. The online pictures are deceiving, and it was overpriced. Booking under the name of the Raddison led me to expect a higher level of stay. This isn’t a 3-star hotel.
