We had confirmed our arrival time with the owner in advance and planned the trip around it. Then, while we were already on the way, she called to say she wouldn't give us the room. We had no backup place arranged, so the sudden change left us stressed and scrambling. She was rude, arrogant, and dismissive on the phone instead of apologizing or trying to help. There was no courtesy or professionalism, and we felt disrespected and unwelcome. The confirmation gave us no real assurance that our booking would be honored. Motel Casino's poor communication and last-minute refusal ruined the experience. I'd advise other travelers to be cautious.

The owners were rude and unfriendly, so I probably won't return. I lost a key that I had signed for at $20, but she charged me $30 for what was a $2 key. There were no microwaves in the rooms, and none of the TV remotes worked. The owners were ignorant all around.

The one uneasy part was walking to a restaurant down the street at night. On the way back, it was dark and the street felt a bit sketchy. Otherwise, we had a really pleasant stay. My dad and I had come from New Hampshire to Ottawa for a funeral. The room was clean, spacious enough for us, and had everything we needed. Staff accommodated our request for a ground-floor room with two beds because I have mobility issues. The front desk man was lovely when I said the coffee was too weak, and he made another pot that was perfect. The owner checked that our room was okay, then had the housekeeper, a wonderful woman who'd worked there for 10 years, check it so our deposit could be issued right away. I think the negative reviews are bogus, probably from people who caused trouble and are upset they were tossed out.

We picked this room because it was among the cheapest we could find, but the stay was a mess. The lady was rude and kept interrupting us. She copied everyone's IDs without telling us why and kept them. One room smelled really bad, one bed had a strange yellow stain that looked like someone had peed on it, and the toilets kept clogging even when we hadn't done anything. There was also a creepy hidden carpeted room with a sink that didn't work, and the bathroom sink seemed ready to break. We did find the rooms clean after the night. At checkout the manager kept saying our deposit refund was declined and wouldn't do anything. It felt like she wanted us to leave without our money. Only after we called the bank and explained it wasn't our fault did the refund suddenly start working. It seemed like she was trying to scam a bunch of 18-year-olds for extra money. We won't come back.
