Rocky Crest Golf Resort

We were here mainly for a round of golf, and the course was very nice, just down the road. The resort sits right on the water and we had a lakeside corner room with a loft bedroom and skylight. It was an okay one-night stay with my wife in June, nothing particularly special. The place is dated inside and out. I'd try some other resorts in the area first so I have comparisons before deciding whether to return.

The golf course was amazing, and we saw deer, but I wouldn't recommend the rooms. Ours was dated, dirty, and had damage. There were Cheerios, sand, and other things on arrival. The front desk said housekeeping would come, but nobody showed up, so we cleaned it ourselves. It felt more like a two-star hotel room. We didn't use the pool or restaurants, though other guests told us to eat somewhere else. If you're here to golf, stay elsewhere.

We won't be returning. The stay itself was fine, but the breakfast buffet was awful, and there aren't other food options when you're at the resort. At 8:15 the eggs were cold and rubbery, and the rest of the food was stale. I asked for fresh eggs and got the same cold, rubbery ones again. There was an omelette station, but nobody was there even though it was after 8, and we still paid full price. I also left a small toiletry bag in the room, but when I called, housekeeping said they hadn't found it.

There's plenty to keep kids of all ages busy here, and the on-site restaurants were good with delicious cocktails. The resort is beautiful on Lake Joseph. Parry Sound is close enough for a day trip, and Santa's Village is worth a visit for the nostalgic feel and rides for the kids.
