Marie and Gilles made delicious meals for all of us, including our vegetarian daughters and their omnivore parents. We stayed at the Grand Camp des Loups, and the whole visit was amazing. For my 50th birthday, our family came to Aventuraid for a Wolves, Water and Whales themed trip. The whales were for later at the Saguenay, but we got to learn about wolves in their native territory and meet the packs on site. We also had a traditional meal in the tepee by the river, then took a canoe trip down the Mistassini. Our teenage daughters probably made that paddle last longer than usual. After that, we helped feed and water the sled dogs and got to meet the puppies! I wasn't sure what to expect, but couldn't have asked for more. I only wish my French were better, though our guide was fantastic and could translate. I'd love to come back in winter for a sled dog adventure.

We couldn't find the sauna, and there were no instructions about how to get to it. Also, bring your own towels as well as bedding. Bedding was mentioned, but towels weren't. Breakfast was toast with jam and butter, plus coffee and tea. We spent two nights between the wolf enclosures at park Mahikan. Although it was listed as temporarily closed, they still accepted our reservation and opened for us, which was great. The stay followed the covid precaution measures. You can walk all the way around the wolves and they'll follow you, but visitors can no longer touch them or enter their enclosures, as they apparently could before. My daughter was a little disappointed about that. All in all, it was a great rustic trip.

The kids were amazed by how close the wolves were, and hearing them at night was something else. We didn't go on any expeditions, just stayed one night.

Meeting the wolves and dogs was so cool, and I loved being out in nature and learning to canoe. I had a great time with Aventuraid. The guides were all friendly and nice, and communicated well in both English and French. I'd definitely recommend it.

The food was amazing even while camping, and don't leave without grabbing a bag of the trail mix. That was the highlight of my trip! This was my first time with Aventuraid, and I hope it won't be my last. The guides were ready for every situation and spoke amazing English. They handled our large group of around 20 with no problem.
