The food was outstanding, the activities were a lot of fun, and the service was excellent. The room was the letdown: the bathroom wasn’t very clean, there’s almost no soundproofing so you hear nearby conversations and noise, and the rooms could use updating. Still, I’d absolutely return for the food and service.

We didn’t see any beavers or bears on the observation trip, and by mid fall they may already be in their dens. It sounds like summer is a better time to spot them, when they’re more active. Even so, this forest nature hotel was the highlight of our Quebec trip. The setting right on a beautiful lake is fantastic, and the wooden architecture, massive logs and rustic, imaginative style make it feel magical. The spa is luxurious, the food is wonderful, and the staff are friendly. Fall is beautiful here, with fresh air, the nip of approaching winter and the forest in full foliage. There weren’t many kids around, but it’s a great place for children aged 8 and up. Groups from France and Germany stop by, so it can get busy. I don’t agree with the complaints about the food or lack of TV. Why have a TV in a place like this? There’s fast, free internet, but really, put your devices away and enjoy the place. I’d warmly recommend it for a special getaway.

Thanks to the team for a wonderful last minute escape into the woods. We got there early and were able to access our room, then head out for a great hike and even see a dog sledding team. Dinner at the resto came with a lovely view and super service. The buffet breakfast in the morning sun made for amazing photos. We’d consider booking a larger room for a weekend, and we’ll be back. Great job by everyone.

The scenery and views are breathtaking, but the service was terrible and the food only average. The pool badly needs an update. The nicer pools are in the spa, which costs $40 per person per day, and kids aren’t allowed. They need to invest in upgrading the facility, make significant improvements to the food and train staff to provide much better customer service. It’s a shame such an amazing location doesn’t come with better service.

We came with a group for a company-paid stay, so I can’t really judge the cost against the quality. The views are breathtaking, the rooms are cozy, and there are fun activities: a Mississipi table, pool, an arcade machine and foosball inside the hotel. Dog sledding is available for an extra cost. I’d return, though a few small things kept it from five stars. The outdoor spa water wasn’t hot enough, and the bartender on our second night was rude and seemed unready to serve four people at once. There’s an outdoor ice rink with skates you can borrow for free, but it costs $250 just to have a fire. That makes no sense if other people can use the same fire without paying. Still, it was a very nice stay, and I’d come back in summer or autumn.
