Motel Le Saint Alex

The staff were friendly, and the location is convenient. That’s about all I can say in the place’s favor. The price was $100 for a night in what felt like a freezing closet, with no real food or entertainment. Their website talks about pancakes, but there weren’t any, and mentions a spa and partnered beauty parlour. I doubt either existed, given how shabby and rundown the motel felt. Breakfast was miserable too. The dining area was freezing, and the choices were toast, coffee, or tea. Nothing else. The last time I had a terrible hotel stay, a great breakfast made up for it. No such luck this time. My uncle had rented a nearby camp for his 25th anniversary, and I booked the closest hotel so we could celebrate and head home the next day. It wasn’t even that cold out, but my tiny room had no windows and was absolutely frigid when I arrived. I turned the thermostat up, went to the party, and came back to a still freezing room. The ancient heater clanked loudly all night and never warmed the place. The heavy sheets were stiflingly hot, so I didn’t sleep well. Getting up to use the bathroom meant walking across freezing tile. The TV remote barely worked, there were only 5-6 channels, about half religious and/or political, and its volume was locked lower than the heater, so it couldn’t cover the noise anyway. What a miserable stay.

Comfortable place, conveniently located, and affordable.

The rooms are small.

The owners are really nice, and the pancakes at the included breakfast are excellent. Superb motel, especially for snowmobilers.
