Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc

We met friends for lunch and couldn’t have a conversation because of nonstop, extremely loud helicopter noise. It felt like being in Vietnam during the war. If you enjoy a helicopter overhead during your stay, this is the place for you. You can even take those silly helicopter rides right from the dining patio if you’re bored, but it’s not somewhere to relax in peace.

The views of the lake were spectacular, and the food was excellent. We stayed in the cottage, where the rooms and bathrooms were quite nice, and the service was good too. There were eight of us, but only three sofas in the common area. One more would be my only suggestion.

The location right on the bank of the Lac Blanc is amazing, and the staff were great. Our room was nice and spacious, but we had to downgrade from the Superior Room because its TV wasn’t working. We also came during the change between seasons: the winter activities like tubing and ice fishing had stopped, while the summer ones hadn’t started yet. So the timing wasn’t ideal.

You never expect something like this to happen to you, until it does. We were left stranded in another country with no way home, no passports, and two frightened children in tears. The U.S. embassy said it couldn’t help until Tuesday because of the holiday. Please think twice before spending money at this establishment. It isn’t friendly to overnight snowmobilers. We were targeted. When we arrived, we were told we couldn’t park in the main lot. The security guard sent us about 1 km away to a lot across from a dumpster. We raised concerns, but he assured us it was the trailer parking area, absolutely secure, covered by cameras, and regularly patrolled. Our truck and trailer were stolen, along with our passports and our children’s birth certificates. The police filed a report, but told us the truck was gone and we’d never see it again. The resort manager didn’t seem to care and just said sorry. They even smiled and laughed a few times. We later found out there was a secure lot for trucks and trailers that nobody had told us about. The theft took more than metal from us. It took the feeling of safety from our 8 and 11 year old children, who were on vacation with their mom, dad, and pops, and the comfort of taking an adventure to another country. How could the establishment set us up to fail, target us, and then not care enough to write an incident report at their facility or even hear us out? The only kind employee was the girl at the desk, who gave the kids hot chocolate and a room where we could wait. We’re thankful to the U.S. border agents for helping us get home. ♥️
