If you want a cabin all to yourself, away from the busy feel of Banff and Lake Louise, this is a great place to stay. It's about 45 min to Lake Louise, the same distance as from Banff. There's a lot more to do in the way of hikes, and with things quieter here, you've got a better chance of seeing bears.

The cabins are huge and spacious, with a well organized kitchen, outdoor furniture, a gas grill, and a fire place. Parking is plentiful and organized, very close to the cabins. Great location too. 10/10, would definitely come back and recommend.

Our cabin #2 was clean, spacious, and well maintained, and we really enjoyed staying there. The chalets are privately owned, set a short way off the Trans Canada highway, and feel peaceful and private, with stunning mountain views. The Kootenay river is just a few minutes' walk away and is lovely too. Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, and Lake Moraine are all easy to reach from here. We hope to visit again.

We stayed in chalet #12 at Chancellor Peaks Resort from December 29-31, 2023, a family group of five adults and two children. The owners later told us they were giving us five stars and asked us to return the favor after we shared our feedback. My husband also spoke with two people from management and went through the problems with them. They said they planned to make the needed repairs and maintenance and ensure the unit was cleaned properly. The condition was a shock. The listing photos didn't match what we found: no dining table or chairs, just a counter and wooden stools; the loft had a queen and two single beds instead of three doubles; and the sofa was shabby and worn, not leather. Our adult daughter had to sleep on an uncomfortable fold-out cot under the stairs. The place was dirty throughout. The windows were smeared, the door blinds were broken and dirty, and there was debris in corners and under tables. The fridge, crisper drawers, stove, hood fan, cupboards and dishes all needed cleaning. The pots and pans were mismatched and shoved away in a mess. The kitchen was poorly equipped, and a 2X4 piece of lumber was holding up an upper cabinet. In the bathroom, drywall was crumbling near the floor and the door stop hung loose. Towels were thin and worn, facecloths stained, and the heat registers had hair and dust. There was a spill on the carpet by the main bedroom nightstand, mismatched sheets, uncomfortable mattresses, a broken bedside lamp in the loft and something sticky on its nightstand. The whole chalet needed upkeep, repairs and a proper cleaning. Before the visit, the hosts emailed that they didn't supply firewood for the outdoor pit and suggested bringing some from Alberta because it might not be available on site. Bringing firewood into British Columbia from another province is prohibited by law, and the owners should know that. Airbnb later emailed to say my review had been removed for not containing enough relevant information to help people make informed booking decisions. It was detailed, factual and included photos. I also saw that another one-star review on their site had been removed. If Airbnb removes all negative reviews, that does its community a disservice and damages its credibility. This is our honest account of chalet #12 at Chancellor Peaks Resort, with photos.

The hiking trails nearby are stunning, and there are fantastic hot springs close by too. It makes for an amazing family getaway, with an adventure waiting around every corner.
