The Novel Stay

The location is the strongest point. Downtown Halifax is an easy walk, about fifteen minutes away. We spent three nights at the Novel Stay, and the room was tiny, though we made it work since we were out most of the time rather than in room number nine. The toilet was in the shower, with no shower curtain at all, which was very impractical and strange. I gave service three stars because towels and hangers were missing when we arrived, and we had to figure things out ourselves. There is a kitchen available for guests. I spent a week here and enjoyed it. It's a good, affordable small hotel, conveniently located near the south end and downtown. The units are clean, and guests can use a shared kitchen and bathroom, though some units have their own bathroom. I was initially locked out of my room when I arrived, but one quick call to Neil sorted it out. They also checked in later to make sure everything was going well. I'd recommend it and stay again.

The room had the space we needed for a casual visit and was nice. The bathroom setup was strange, with the toilet and sink inside the shower stall; I wish those had been separated. The location is close enough to walk to everything in about 15 minutes, even though it’s not right in the middle of things. I’d stay again, 10/10.

Our room got incredibly hot, and the small fan couldn’t cool it down. The shared bathroom and kitchen were in good shape, though, and the location is great for getting around Halifax. All the major sights are within walking distance.
