Days Inn by Wyndham Hinton

After the long drive from Vancouver, I slept well and the night was quiet, though the bed wasn't especially comfortable. Breakfast let the stay down: the boiled egg I tried looked questionable inside, and the fruit salad was clearly canned. The room had carpet and fairly typical, not very modern décor, but it was spacious and generally clean. The fridge, microwave, and air conditioning all worked, which I appreciated on a hot day. One staff member at check-in seemed cold and indifferent; the next two were friendly and helpful. For one night the price was reasonable, though a few dollars more might get you a softer bed, an elevator, and better breakfast.

We were a family of four using this as a less expensive stop during our Canadian Rockies trip. Our two-bedroom booking wasn't available when we arrived, so we got a one-bedroom room and a suitable reduction in the rate. I'd certainly stay here again.

The walls were so thin we could hear everything in the next room, which meant no privacy or comfort. Our room smelled strongly of cigarettes, there was garbage on the TV table, the sink kept clogging, the microwave didn't work, and the curtains were filthy. Although check-in was supposed to be at 3 PM, the room wasn't cleaned until 9 PM, and staff gave no apology. The online photos didn't match what we found; the room felt dirty, neglected, and unsanitary. One of the worst hotel stays I've had. I found the place misrepresented and unacceptable, and would tell people to stay away.

The Days Inn in Hinton worked fine for a night while passing through. It felt clean and functional, and the staff were polite. Our room was roomy and comfortable, with the basic things needed for a restful stay. Nothing stood out, but we had no major issues. A convenient, no-fuss place to crash.
